Meet Jenny

My name is Sadie and I’m 36 years old. I have been married for four years and have a three year old son. If I had to try and describe myself in three words they would be positive, hopeful and perfectionist.

A normal day for me starts with an early morning walk or yoga, followed by breakfast. I take our son to preschool and whilst he’s out quickly get on with all the boring chores, then after collecting him we have lunch and a fun afternoon together. It’s all just very normal family life and I love it. It’s very different from what I used to do though, working in a celebrity talent management agency in central London. Some days I would really like to be back there, going out for coffee and gossiping with the girls - it seems like a completely different world now!

In terms of plans for 2018, I hope to include more travels and adventure. Last summer I climbed up into the Picos De Europa mountains in Northern Spain and the views were breath taking; I would very much like to do more of the same. I also want to keep learning ways to improve my health and overall well-being.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2014; I was 32 and 23 weeks pregnant so there was absolutely no thought of cancer in my mind, it was a complete shock. My immediate concerns were for my pregnancy, I’d been avoiding things like tea and undercooked eggs and then suddenly was facing major surgery and chemotherapy. It was a very dark period at what should have been the most joyful time of my life.

Thankfully, my son arrived perfectly healthy (if a little early), but when he was three weeks old we learned that my cancer had spread and was now classed as stage four and deemed incurable. This was a devastating blow but I have never forgotten some advice I received from a fellow stage four lady, which was simply to love my son as much as I could for as long as I could and not worry about anything else. That advice has carried me through every day since. I also couldn’t have coped without my family; we all live in different corners of the country but everyone is there for me whenever I need them, I know how loved I am and am very lucky to have such support.

Having been through my own personal experience, if I could go back and give myself one piece of advice it would be not to waste so much time worrying about the future. However much you think imagining the worst will prepare you, it really won’t, so you just end up suffering twice.

I discovered Nicola Jane pretty much straight after my operation and was so pleased to find such a wide and varied selection of high quality beautiful underwear. Nicola Jane lingerie is so attractive and more importantly supportive, this is what helps me to feel completely normal and confident. My favourite product is the lace camisole bra, I have it in three colours! I also purchased my first mastectomy bikini last year and it was wonderful to be able to tan my stomach for the first time in three years, perfectly confident that no one would notice anything different about me.

I decided to apply to be a Nicola Jane Inspirational Woman because I was so encouraged by the stories from the previous models; they made me realise that I wasn’t alone. I hope that my story might be able to do the same for someone else.

A Bit Of Fun...

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would play you?
Nicole Kidman - I think she is the most beautiful woman in the world, I look absolutely nothing like her but I’m sure that wouldn’t matter!

What would your superpower be?
I would like to time travel! Not sure if that counts as a super power…

Who are your 5 dream dinner party guests (dead or alive)?
Nicole Kidman, Agatha Christie, Joanna Lumley, my husband (he’s very good at keeping the conversation going) and my good friend Holly (because I don’t see her enough!)
