Nicola Jane Visits The Wessex Haven Open Day

Friday, 23rd October 2015

Throughout 2015 we have been supporting the fantastic charity The Haven.
Not only have we been collecting 10% of all sales from our popular Cara Bra in colour lilac, but we have also been donating 15% of your orders each time you have quoted HAVEN15.  With the help of you, we have raised an amazing £3000!

This week we were privileged to be invited to visit the new Wessex Haven for ourselves and see the amazing renovation project which has been taking place.

If we had to choose one word to describe the new Wessex Haven it would be ‘tranquil’. As soon as you step through the door of the grade II listed 18th Century house you feel at home. With warm neutral colours used throughout the building, every room appears to effortlessly flow into one another.

Every aspect of the house has been carefully considered to provide the most relaxed atmosphere possible.  Having previously been a private house, tearooms and a shop, the interior has been completely renovated to provide a light, bright, homely environment. Certain characteristics and original features have remained in the building, one of our favourites has be to minstrel gallery, which a gentle reminder of the history and keeps with rustic charm of the building.

At the back of the building the light conservatory space leads out onto a garden area which has been developed using the plants from the award winning Haven Garden created for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015. With the gentle sound of trickling water from the water features, this garden area is a great extension of the relaxing atmosphere created within the house itself.

There is no doubt that The Wessex Haven will be a well-used resource for people who have been affected by breast cancer. All staff themselves at The Wessex Haven have either experienced breast cancer or have experience working with people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, this allows The Haven to provide unrivalled knowledge, advice and support.

The Haven offers a variety of therapies and approaches including acupuncture, reflexology, nutritional advice as well as various seminars and workshops designed to help with the emotional and physical effects of breast cancer. Whether you experienced breast cancer a year ago or 20 years ago The Haven are there to offer their support. All support and recommended therapies are tailored specifically to the person and are based on individual needs and circumstances.

The Wessex Haven is officially open to the public on 26th October 2015, for further details please visit: http://www.thehaven.org.uk/wessex
