Held on Friday 30th October at the CLAN House Aberdeen, our Fitting Clinic was as popular as we expected. Throughout the day over 25 ladies were fitted by expert fitters Melissa, Poppy and Emily. Each lady was offered a personal mastectomy bra fitting, as well as individual advice regarding suitable styles which would meet specific post-surgery needs.
To coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Melissa, Poppy and Emily also attended the CLAN House Music and Massage evening on 29th October to offer mastectomy lingerie, swimwear and prosthesis fitting advice for ladies attending the event.
The CLAN House is a purpose-built support and wellbeing centre and is designed specifically for those diagnosed or affected by cancer. The building itself sits on the edge of Westburn Park which this time of year offers beautiful picturesque views, a little sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of Aberdeen. Conveniently located a short walk from the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, The CLAN House aims to reduce any stress caused during treatment by offering accommodation for patients at the CLAN Haven located next door, as well as minibus trips for patients attending regular appointments at the hospital.
After visiting The CLAN House itself, it is understandable why it is such a popular and well-used resource. As soon as you walk-in you are welcomed by friendly staff who will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. The centre has a beautiful conservatory area with views across the park, a salon with resident hairdresser and wig stylist and a library. Various private counselling rooms are also found throughout the building, where trained CLAN Staff offer emotional and practical support. As well as counselling the CLAN also offer a variety of complementary therapies including Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Energy Healing, Homeopathy, Reiki, Shiatsu and Aqua Detox.
