The Nicola Jane Story

Nicola Jane has been providing high quality post mastectomy fashion for over 27 years. As the UK’s leading specialist we have always believed in using the best designers and latest fabrics to create flattering, fashionable products that suit your style and individual needs.

The business first began in 1984 when it was set up by Nichola Lawrence. Following a friend’s diagnosis and treatment Nichola came to realise that there were limited choices available for mastectomy patients. She quickly recognised that there was an opportunity to provide a much needed service for people who had undergone surgery.

Having identified a need for a specialist provider, Nichola spent several months visiting lingerie and swimwear shows to find suppliers. It was not easy, as mastectomy products at this time involved seamstresses sewing pockets into standard bras which did not restore confidence in someone who had just been through surgery.

The first mail order catalogue was launched and Nichola and her husband Peter began despatching orders from their attic at home. The response was tremendous and over the intervening years we have since developed and matured in this specialist market. We now have three shops, one in London, Leeds and one in Chichester where Nichola can still be found, fitting customers and running the shop. Each shop provides a free personal fitting experience as well as continuing to provide a mail order service.

Our mail order side of the company has since moved from Nichola and Pete's home and we are now based in Chichester on the South Coast. Pete is the Managing Director and has a great deal of input into the catalogue and product selection, alongside Amanda, our Product Manager and Claire Marie, General Manager. Our fantastic team has now grown along with the business and you can 'meet the team' by clicking on the left navigation button.

The range of products have expanded from the handful available when Nichola first set up the business and now we have the best selection of mastectomy fashion available. We have also worked very hard to start our own Nicola Jane brand of both swimsuits and bras which are stylish and beautiful, designed with your needs in mind.
